I’m having thoughts of suicide and don’t know what to do.

Having thoughts of suicide can be overwhelming and extremely stressful.

Sometimes it can feel like you’re stuck in a black hole and you’re not sure if you will ever get out of it. We want to remind you that it is possible to get out of it. Sometimes, the first step is admitting to yourself that you don’t know what to do and we think you’re incredibly self-aware for realizing that. If you are having serious thoughts of ending your life, we encourage you to reach out to the adults you trust in your life because they may have no idea how you’re feeling.

It can be incredibly difficult to talk about your feelings and many people feel this way.

If you’re not ready to talk to the people in your life yet, that’s okay too because that’s why supports like us exist. We can listen to you while you talk about how you’re feeling and why you may be feeling this way. The best part is that you get to choose how you want to talk to us- chat, text, email or over the phone.

We are here to listen to you and, if you’re comfortable, we can help you come up with an action plan to connect to the people who know you best. Time can also feel lost or out of your control when you’re feeling stuck in that black hole but that’s why our phone line is available 24 hours a day –feeling depressed, sad or lonely can happen at any time of the day.

We can also forget to take care of ourselves when we’re feeling really down.

Making time for things you may enjoy can also help you feel better, even for a little while. Grab a good book, call a friend, write down your thoughts in a journal- there are endless ideas out there but it’s important to find what works best for you. Realizing you’re feeling lost and hopeless takes a lot of courage and strength. Please know that we will be here for you when you are ready to talk about your thoughts of suicide and that you don’t have to go through this alone.
