What Training Will I Receive?
As a volunteer, you’ll receive comprehensive training that covers a wide range of essential topics necessary for your role.
This includes crisis management techniques to handle delicate situations, active listening skills to provide empathetic support, and ensuring confidentiality to maintain trust.
How Long Does Training Last?
Our training program is thoughtfully designed to prepare you for impactful conversations with youths in need. Once you’re accepted as a volunteer, you’ll join a training cohort. Review the training schedules on the Distress Centre website to get a better under standing of the training commitment.
Throughout the training period, you’ll work closely with our experienced team members, who will mentor you until you feel confident to answer the support line on your own.
When Do I Volunteer?
When it comes to scheduling your shifts, we strive to provide flexibility to meet your availability.
ConnecTeen shifts only operate between 3pm-10:30pm Monday to Friday, and 12pm-10:30pm on weekends and holidays.
