What can I do to say up-beat?
It’s totally normal to have a bad day. Everyone gets sad at some point but if you find that there’s no reason to why you’re sad then you might be struggling with something more than just your general ups and downs of life.
If you feel like that black cloud just doesn’t ever go away and it’s interfering in everyday life then Depression may be the case. We recommend speaking to your doctor about how you feel.
It’s also important for you to remember that you’re human so having a variety of feelings comes with that. You should laugh with your friends and enjoy things that make you happy but at the same time recognize other emotions, like sadness. When we remember that we can feel many different emotions, it can help you appreciate the good times as well.
What matters is how you react to all of these feelings and not to have too much of one without the other. Balance is key to a healthy emotional state and you need to work on your own personal ways to stay upbeat.
Because we all feel things differently, how we cope with our emotions will also differ because of our unique personalities.
If you’re not sure what to try, exercising is awesome for your general health and mood. Sometimes, being able to talk things out with people can help a lot. Creating strong and healthy relationships with family, friends and/or significant others really helps connect you with people that care about you and your well-being. Healthy relationships can lead you to have people in your life that you can confide in as well so that you aren’t dealing with these feelings alone.
Some other things you could try to stay upbeat are keeping a journal of your feelings, especially the good ones so when you read back through them, you are reminded of the great things you’ve felt or done. Sometimes, just turning up the music and dancing or singing can help brighten your mood, especially if it’s music you love.
If you come to find that you have done all of this and these feelings are still there and you want help dealing with it, talking with your parents or a counselor could help. You are always invited to chat with us too- it can be tough trying to figure out what works best for you so if you contact us, we can bounce ideas off each other to help you come up with different suggestions for staying up-beat.
