I’m trying to help her to get over it because I’m worried for her. I’ve had this feeling too. How can I help her?
Crushes can be exciting and nerve-wracking, and are a part of most youths’ (and adults’) everyday lives. The fun of being with them and talking to them, or even just talking to your friends about them, can make life a little more interesting at times. As great as a crush may be to have though, just as quickly as they form they can also be lost to circumstances. There are a lot reasons this might happen, maybe you find a new crush, maybe it’s unrequited, or maybe they move away and just aren’t around as much anymore.
No matter the reason it can really be tough when someone you like isn’t right there, and it’s completely normal to feel sad and lonely about it.
But even if that’s true, it’s not an easy thing for someone to watch a friend struggle with! The best remedy to a broken heart might be time, but sometimes you can help a person along by simply being there for them. That might mean a day out with just friends, being silly and having fun. Or they could just need a shoulder to cry on or someone to listen to them, and sometimes that’s the best you can do. And that’s okay too.
The most important thing is for you to take care of yourself. It can be overwhelming to shoulder a friend’s worries no matter how much you may want to help. After all, you’re human too. But luckily, that’s why we’re here. When you just need to be heard and work through your emotions, we’re right there to help you along. So whether you want to explore options for helping a friend, or explore options to help yourself we’re here to make that process at least a little easier.
