I understand you are turning 16 soon and want to know if moving out is a possibility. Moving out is a really huge decision and not an easy one to make. There are a lot of things to take into consideration like your relationship with your parents, your financial situation, where to live, your safety and your education. Regardless of what your reason is for moving out, I do hope this is a decision that is best for you and something you have really considered and reflected on.
I understand it must feel frustrating to think about all these different options, outcomes and consequences of moving out. There might be another set of emotions where it can feel like you’re helpless or worried as you might not know what to do or who to talk to, moving on any scale is a difficult thing to be going through. It might also feel freeing to be able to make a decision for yourself, just a whole mix of emotions basically!
One suggestion might be to look into the Alex Centre (https://www.thealex.ca/) as they have many resources tailored towards youth. Another option is to call 211 for more information on legal and financial resources within your area.
After all this being said, if you do feel like you need someone to talk to and really work through the emotions of the situation, please definitely contact us at ConnectTeen by chatting, texting (403-264-8336) or calling (403-264-8336) us.
Take care.
