Small ways to feel better everyday

Feeling energized, motivated, and happy is important, but sometimes difficult to achieve. Balancing between different commitments and dealing with various social influences (ex: social media, different friend groups) can become challenging. Focusing on yourself should be a priority. Over time, I have noticed how some simple lifestyle habits have helped me develop higher productivity levels and take on the day with a positive attitude.

In this post I will share my ideas. I hope you find them useful!

Take advantage of your commute time

Your commute is the perfect time for you to tune into the day. For example, you can listen to your favorite music, read your favorite book, think about your day ahead, or simply enjoy the ride. This time acts as a nice break before a busy day at school and can help you unplug from any stress or tension.

Add some “micro-exercise” into your routine

There are some days when we cannot access a gym or find time to exercise. Going for short walks, taking the stairs to your next class, or a short home workout can help you feel energized. Fitting in some kind of physical activity can also help you sleep well and manage stress.

Make sure that you sleep properly

Sleep is an important aspect of health as it nourishes and repairs your body, so that you are ready to take on the next day. Consider disconnecting from electronic devices earlier, so that you can enjoy a couple more minutes of sleep!

Write about your day and how you feel

Writing about your feelings and experiences can help you become more attuned to your emotions and help you understand how you have evolved over time. This process can also help you release any negative feelings when you don’t feel like talking to others.

Lastly, compliment and appreciate other people

It becomes easy to negatively compare ourselves to other people and harbor feelings of jealousy. Instead, I encourage you to change your perspective so that you can use others’ accomplishments as inspiration and a way to motivate yourself. If you adopt this mindset, you can become a better version of yourself and be kind towards others at the same time!
